  QUESTION AND ANSWER

Come back soon to find answers to the frequently asked questions

Some questions have arisen as to the appropriate process for requesting a transfer or being considered for another opportunity at New Haven.  Hopefully, the following will clarify our process:

  • Opportunities are posted on the INTERNAL section of our website (while we may present generic position on the public site, our INSIDER Section lists position openings AND provides a roster of house openings, as updated frequently.  To get to the web site, simply type in www.newhavenyfs.org and look for the Insider icon in the lower left corner.
  • Discuss your interest with your supervisor.  They should be able to coach you as to the skills or experience you need to be a consideration for the opening (or find out information for you, if uncertain).  They will also tell you if they have concerns that they believe you should address before considering a transfer, if there are any.
  • Send a Request for Consideration (or say “hey, I’m interested in finding out more about this”), to humres@newhavenyfs.org. We will review your request, respond to you, and coordinate appropriate interview(s) if you meet the minimum qualifications.
  • Unusual position will often be forwarded as well by email, if internal candidates or forwarded through your supervisors.
  • For transfer considerations outside of your current assignment, we generally expect at least 6 months of work history in your current job, an acceptable level of performance (including attendance & trainings), and the ability to meet the minimum requirements of the position (for example, FM’s must meet the criteria of completion of behavioral science courses and/or experience in the field).

At this point, our open positions are displayed on the website and we have a couple of FM position in the Sun-Wednesday shift as well as the weekend shifts.   As most of you know, TBS coach openings occur on an ongoing basis based on client referrals; however, those positions are non-benefited and have intermittent hours.

Hope that helps!  Feel free to shoot me an email  if I created more questions.
