  PROGRAMS

The goal of all our programs at New Haven is to extend a continuum of care to each youth so that they can return to the community requiring little or no further intervention.

Each component of the continuum will provide competent, valid (research based) programs that embrace "best-practices" and prepare each youth to live independent of ongoing social service intervention.

Our programs include:

BUILDING BLOCKS FOR LIFE

An Integrated Comprehensive Program for
Youth in Residential Care -

The Building Blocks For Life Program uses a psycho-educational approach which embraces three harmonious theoretical models as its philosophical foundation. These include:

  • Re-Education
  • Reclaiming Youth
  • Resilience

THE CIRCLE OF COURAGE

The Circle of Courage phases seek to affirm positive disciplinary practices by departing from the traditional expression of level systems and offering a system that is strength-based and focused.

These phases represent an integrated approach to treatment that are imbedded into the building blocks model. They also provide goals for treatment as well as comprehensive psycho-educational benchmarks.

WORKABILITY

For 10 consecutive years, New Haven has been awarded a Department of Education, Workability I grant.

Workability provides special education to high school students making the transition from school to work, to independent living, or post-secondary education with comprehensive pre-employment training and career placement.

THERAPEUTIC BEHAVIORAL SERVICES

The Therapeutic Behavioral Services program (TBS) is a short term, goal directed service provided to children to assist in achieving the lowest appropriate level of placement.

TBS is a one-to-one service that targets the specific behaviors that are barriers to achieving the lowest level of care. Accordingly, a behavioral coach works with the child in the milieu with the goal of increasing their coping skills, as well as working with the parent and/or caregivers in teaching them effective interventions.

The ultimate objective is to increase the child's success in their current placement. In addition to providing services to residents at New Haven, the TBS program also provides services to other residential facilities as well as private homes located throughout San Diego, Los Angeles and Riverside Counties.
